The AMCAS is the centralized application processing service for applicants to Allopathic medical schools and includes several sections: identifying information, schools attended, biographic information, course work, work and activities, letters of recommendation, and essays.

The “Work and Activities” section of the AMCAS application is designed to provide medical schools with a detailed view of your experiences beyond academic coursework. You can enter up to 15 distinct experiences in this section, each with a description of up to 700 characters. 

Additionally, you are allowed to designate three of these experiences as “most meaningful,” which gives you the opportunity to provide a deeper reflection and more detailed account of these activities. For these “most meaningful” experiences, an extra 1,325 characters are available.

This section is crucial as it helps admissions committees gain insights into your personal development, commitment to medicine, and the skills you have acquired through diverse experiences.

• Comprehensive Review: Your doctor mentor will review your relevant research experiences and other extracurricular activities, offering guidance on what to include or exclude.
• Additional Edits: If your package includes additional edits, you will submit the revised application for further refinement, ensuring your writing is finely tuned and polished.
